Cape Town’s geographical position and the fact that it’s located between the Atlantic and Indian Ocean makes it an ideal diving destination. If water conditions are found to be poor on the one side of the point, within a short drive across the cape peninsula there will be clear and perfect water for diving. During the summer months the dominating south-east winds cause cold and very clear upwellings along the Atlantic seaboard. Westerly winds prevail during the winter and bring clear water into False Bay towards the eastern side of the Cape. The merging of warm currents from the Indian Ocean and cold currents from the Atlantic Ocean has created a rich diversity of marine life here and there are loads of wreck sites to explore too. Whatever time of the year there is always somewhere perfect to scuba dive.
